About the Owner

Betsy Vannatta was raised in Hampton Bays, NY and after attended Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science, now Philadelphia University, where she graduated with Honors with a B.S. in Interior Design. She has been a resident of Southwest Florida since 1992.

After a stint working for one of SW Florida’s preeminent Interior Designers she decided that wasn’t the path for her and changed her career path. For the next 12 years she worked for several custom builders where she handled any and all client requests, design selections and construction changes. Everything from paint colors, ceiling details, electrical plans and specs, to electrical and final walk-throughs.

With that experience under her belt and the end of the construction boom she began working for Specialty Electronics, a firm owned by her husband, Dana. Parlaying her experience in design, electrical plans and client requests she trained to become a Lutron Lighting System Programmer and Automated Shade Specifier.

In May of 2012 she decided to separate the Lighting and Automated Shading side of the business into a new company, and Light Control of Naples was born.

About the Company

Light Control of Naples was created in May of 2012. Fully Licensed and Insured.

Light Control of Naples is an independent firm that Designs, Sells, Provides, Specifies and Programs Lighting and Automated Shade Systems, primarily by Lutron, in Collier and Lee counties. Attained Lutron Gold Level in 2013.

We work with other companies to integrate Audio-Video Systems, HVAC Systems, Pools & Spas, Landscape Lighting and more, together into a totally integrated Home System. As little or as much of a Home’s systems can be integrated together. This means each system works independently, but can communicate with the others. For example by pressing the “Goodnite” button you can turn all your lights off, lower your blackout shades, turn the TV System off, the landscape Lights off, Set the Alarm, and turn the Air Conditioner to your preferred sleeping temperature.

Every client installation is a custom installation. Every button press is programmed to the individual wants and needs of each client. There is no right or wrong. I have programmed buttons labeled “DOGS” which lit a path to the front door, turned on the landscape lights. Through my favorite is one labeled “PEE” which lit a very low path to the Water Closet, and then turned itself off in 15 minutes, so there was no need to press another button. .

Sometimes it's the little things too. Like having a "check" program that makes sure the exterior lights are off about an hour after sunrise, just in case they are left on (it's not always easy to see). Or setting a delay so the exhaust fans run long enough to extract the moisture out of a bathroom, but automatically turn off after a predetermined time.

How about an exterior light button that will only turn on the lights if it's night (great for those Grandkids), or won't turn on the lights during Turtle Season (for those of you just moving here, yes that really is a thing).
